Bingham McCutchen LLP in Who's Who Legal: California
In this publication Bingham McCutchen lawyers feature 9 times and the firm is represented in six chapters, demonstrating the strong position that it holds in the California market.
Bingham McCutchen put in an impressive performance in the environment chapter, notching up four places on the list. Environment is a key practice for the firm, which can pride itself upon “a cohesive and dedicated team”, with more than 75 attorneys concentrating solely on environmental law. Edward Strohbehn received a great deal of praise, and enjoys a reputation as “one of the founding fathers of the environmental bar”. Strohbehn does a great deal of electronic waste work and also deals with hazardous waste, Superfund, contaminated sites, water quality and vapour in the workplace matters. James Dragna is a “pre-eminent environmental litigator” and together with Rick Rothman forms a strong contingent in the environment chapter.
The firm also has multiple representatives in Commercial Litigation, with the firm putting forward three individuals – the “leading” David Balabanian; Marshall Grossman, described to us as “a wonderful lawyer”; and Bruce Freidman. Freidman joins this group as a result of Bingham McCutchen’s merger with Alschuler Grossman LLP. He is renowned for his representation of lawyers, real estate brokers, insurance brokers and other professionals in malpractice cases. Bingham McCutchen also fields a strong reputation in the competition arena, with one competitor noting that it had “recently re-emerged in the field and is working on some big cases at the moment.”
Bingham McCutchen is also represented by George Hisert, “a very serious technical lawyer”, in the banking chapter, Stephen Zovickian whose “reputation is well deserved” in the construction chapter and by Lance Bocarsly, in the real estate section of the book.
