Geert has been involved, either as a representative of the parties or on behalf of a third-party intervener, in almost all of the aviation cases that have shaped European competition law policy in the sector. Geert has represented clients in aviation mergers, (most recently United Airlines/Continental, as well as others such as United Airlines/US Airways and Air France/KLM), aviation alliances and cooperation agreements (such as the A++ between United/Continental/Lufthansa/Air Canada, Lufthansa/United/SAS, Lufthansa/SAS/BMI and others), cartel investigations (Air Cargo for UA and Freight Forwarding), dominance cases (Aer Lingus Interlining, Brussels Airport) and state aid (Olympic) as well as associated business areas such as ground handling, airport charges, licensing and GDS/CRS issues.
He has been consistently nominated by his peers as one of the world's leading aviation lawyers in previous editions of this publication and has been identified by Euromoney as one of the top 20 aviation lawyers in the world. Geert is frequently quoted in the press, regularly contributes to books and journals and is an editor of the aviation chapter of the Butterworths Competition Law Encyclopaedia.
He is dual qualified to practise law in Belgium and in England & Wales, and holds an LLM in European law.
