Biography: Capital Markets

Jaime Cortés Alvarez received his law degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and holds a Master of Laws degree from Columbia University Law School. Mr Cortés Alvarez acquired significant international experience during his tenure as a foreign associate at the New York City offices of Brown & Wood (currently, Sidley Austin) and at Davis Polk & Wardwell. He is a partner at González Calvillo, SC where he advises a wide array of national and international clients on matters pertaining to securities, structured finance/securitisation, mergers & acquisitions, private equity and general corporate and commercial matters. He has participated in a leading role on a number of domestic and international offerings of equity and debt securities.

He has also been actively involved in the securitisation of a variety of financial assets. He has advised buyers, sellers, agents, and private equity investors in mergers and acquisitions of public and private companies, and joint ventures.

Mr Cortés Alvarez has significant experience with cross-border and international transactions. He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association (Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados).
