Elisabeth (Lisa) DeMarco is recognised as a Canadian expert and a leading carbon transaction lawyer in the domestic and international carbon markets. She has over a decade of experience in the law relating to emissions trading, the Kyoto Protocol, the evolving area of carbon finance and related emissions transactions. Chambers Global has ranked Lisa as a "leading climate change practitioner in Canada", an "expert in carbon transactions" and one of the top climate change lawyers worldwide. She was also chosen to be included on the premier's climate change advisory panel that will provide advice on climate change strategies and policies. She also has extensive expertise representing clients before the Ontario Energy Board and has been identified as a "leading energy regulatory lawyer" by LawDay.

Lisa is one of the leading carbon transaction lawyers in the international market, having worked for investment banks and energy companies on deals and projects in India, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, China and Russia. Lisa plays an ongoing and active role in the development of energy and GHG emissions policy and law throughout Canada, and in various countries around the world. She was lead carbon counsel on the first restructuring of an LSE-listed, publicly traded international carbon trading company, has pioneered the first sale of distressed carbon assets on the international market and is a lead electricity stakeholder on the Western Climate Initiative electricity technical advisory committee. She is also very involved in the consideration of carbon and related assets in the context of securities regulation. Lisa has also been recognised in Who's Who Legal: Canada.
