Biography: Corporate Tax

Leopoldo Escobar is a local partner in the Caracas office of Macleod Dixon. He primarily practices in the area of tax law, but also focuses on business law. Leopoldo advises clients on international and domestic tax matters. He has experience in the areas of tax treaties, corporate planning and reorganisations, individual and corporate income taxation, value added tax, state and municipal taxation, tax litigation matters and general taxation regime applicable to oil and gas projects in Venezuela.

Prior to Macleod Dixon, Leopoldo was the head of the tax department in the Caracas office for another international law firm, were he gained experience in the taxation regime applicable to large scale petrochemical projects in Venezuela. Additionally, he is currently a professor of an Income Tax course at the International Center for Professional Development (CIAP), affiliated to the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello.

Leopoldo has been recognised by Chambers Latin America, Chambers Global and the International Tax Review as among the Venezuelan leaders in international tax matters.
