Biography: Life Sciences

Dr Ina vom Feld is a partner in Bird & Bird's IP (patents and know-how) and life science practice handling both contentious and non-contentious work. Since her admission to the bar in 2002 she has participated in numerous international patent litigations and advisory projects for clients of Bird & Bird, in particular in the pharmaceutical industry. One focus of her work is the strategic coordination of multi-jurisdictional litigation. Another focus of Ina's work is the drafting and negotiation of contracts in the life science sector including licence agreements, clinical trial agreements and pharmaceutical contract manufacturing agreements. She also advises on pharmaceutical law issues and is a co-author of the Guide to EU Pharmaceutical Regulatory Law (published by Wolters Kluwer).

Who's Who Legal recommends Ina vom Feld both for IP as well as for pharmaceutical regulatory matters. The JUVE Handbook of German Commercial Law Firms recognises her as a leading lawyer in the field of patent litigation. Ina was part of the Bird & Bird team winning the WorldLeader IP Award 2007 for "Patent Excellence" for a multi-jurisdictional patent litigation.

In addition to her German High School Diploma (Abitur), Ina obtained a US high school diploma under a scholarship programme of the German Parliament and the US Congress. Ina studied law at the Universities of Cologne and Frankfurt and obtained a doctorate degree in the field of technology law under a scholarship of the Max Planck Society. She was trained, inter alia, in a US commercial law firm.

Ina is a member of the German-American Lawyer's Association and of the German Intellectual Property and Copyright Association. She is the author of numerous publications on patent and pharmaceuticals law and lectures on various topics relating to IP and pharmaceuticals law.
