Biography: Banking

Bertha Argüello is a partner at Arias & Muñoz, specialising in corporate, banking and investment law. She has been ranked as a leading lawyer by Chambers and Partners and IFLR due to her outstanding work in some of Nicaragua's most notable transactions. Locally, she has coordinated and advised several banks and financial institutions in their openings, as well as in mergers and acquisitions. Bertha has acted as counsel in restructuring, regulatory and compliance matters and has advised both local and international corporations in financing and investment transactions, as well as in security structuring both in the country and in the Central American region. Bertha has also served as legal adviser to local and foreign companies wishing to invest in Nicaragua.

She obtained her Law Degree from Universidad Autónoma de Centro América in San José, Costa Rica in 1993. She holds a Master of Law degree from the Harvard University School of Law (1995) and is authorised as a practising attorney and notary public in Nicaragua.

Bertha is fluent in Spanish and English.
