Nicole has significant experience in the investment funds sector and has acted for local and international private equity and venture capital houses looking to raise funds for deployment in South Africa as well as in Africa generally. She has assisted clients to establish funds in South Africa, Botswana and Mauritius, as well as in non-African jurisdictions. Funds advised on cover the full spectrum of generalist funds and sector funds, including real estate, mezzanine, venture capital, mining and infrastructure funds. Nicole also acts for various limited partners looking to invest in funds, including development finance institutions such as the International Finance Corporation and Development Bank of Southern Africa. Nicole advises on all regulatory aspects of investment funds and acts on behalf of SAVCA (the South African industry body) in making representations to the applicable regulatory authorities on legislative issues affecting the private equity industry.
Nicole recently acted for the fund manager in establishing three of the ten largest international Africa-focused private equity funds, being 8 Miles Fund I (US$1 billion), African Infrastructure Investment Fund II (US$1 billion) and Vantage Capital Mezzanine II (US$400 million).
