Biography: Private funds

Olga Gutman is a partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett where she is a member of the corporate department. Ms Gutman specialises in hedge funds, private equity funds and investment management matters. She regularly represents sponsors of private equity and hedge funds including Breeden Capital Management, Brummer Capital Partners, Citigroup Alternative Investments, GSO Capital Partners, Goshen Investments, The J E Robert Companies, Mizuho Alternative Investments, New Mountain Capital, Pendragon Capital, Spring Mountain Capital, Tiger Management and TSG Consumer Partners. She has also been involved in a number of strategic investments and M&A transactions involving asset management firms.

Ms Gutman is a frequent lecturer before professional groups on private investment funds. She has been recognised as one of the leading private funds lawyers in the 2012 edition of The International Who's Who of Private Funds Lawyers and a leading lawyer in investment funds: hedge funds by Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business (2008 – 2011). She was also named a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500 United States 2010. Ms Gutman received her JD in 1997 from Cornell Law School, where she was an Olin Scholar, and her LLM in International and Comparative Law in 2001, also from Cornell. She received her BA, magna cum laude, from Yeshiva University in 1994, receiving The Wall Street Journal Award for Excellence in Economics.
