Judge Bassler is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and College of Commercial Arbitrators. He is a member of the International Arbitration Club of New York City, international commercial disputes committee of the New York Bar, LCIA North American users' council, New York Intellectual Property Law Association, Swiss Arbitration Association, and the consultative group to the American Law Institute restatement of the law third, the US law of international commercial arbitration.
Judge Bassler served 15 years as a judge of the US District Court and three years as a judge of the State of New Jersey after practising law in New Jersey for 23 years.
Judge Bassler's alternative dispute resolution and judicial experience includes cases involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, license agreements, securities, insurance/reinsurance, joint ventures, real estate, partnerships, personal injury, contracts, and trade secrets. He is currently serving on two arbitral panels each with claims in excess of US$1 billion.
Judge Bassler received his BA degree at Fordham University (1960), JD at Georgetown University Law Center (Law Review, 1963), LLM at New York University Law School (1969, general), and LLM at University of Virginia Law School (judicial process, 1969).
