Biography: Trade & Customs

David Hurtado Badiola (Escuela Libre de Derecho, Attorney at Law; University of Texas at Austin, Master of Comparative Law) is a partner at Jáuregui y Navarrete, SC and heads its international trade and antitrust practices. His practice areas include international trade, antidumping, customs law and antitrust. He has participated in more than 30 anti-dumping investigations and more than 12 antitrust investigations in Mexico, representing domestic and multinational companies including Bayer, Colgate, Gillette, Miller Brewing Co, Union Oil Company of California, Almidones Mexicanos (a subsidiary of Archer Daniels Midland and Tate & Lyle), Tubos de Acero de México and the Spanish Association of Tile Manufactures.

Mr Hurtado is a member of the Mexican Bar Association (Barra Mexicana, Colegio de Abogados), the American Bar Association, the Association of International Trade Consultants (Asociación de Consultores en Prácticas Comerciales Internacionales), the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico, AC and chairman of its trade policy committee, vice president of the policy committee on trade and investment and member of the board of the Mexican chapter of the International Chamber of Commerce Mexico and member of the board of Appleseed Mexico, AC. Mr Hurtado was a foreign associate of Johnson & Gibbs's Dallas, Texas office and has been lecturer of administrative law at the Escuela Libre de Derecho since 1985. He is listed in the roster of Mexican panellists of NAFTA and has been a panellist in three NAFTA chapter 19 disputes involving cement, stainless steel and pipe exports from Mexico to the US.
