Biography: Regulatory Communications

Wendy Rosenberg has been a director of Werksmans Attorneys since 2007 and currently plays a key role in the firm's media & communications practice.

Wendy's knowledge of regulatory communications spans print and broadcast media; broadcasting signal distribution; telecommunications (electronic communications); electronic transactions; regulation of the internet, lotteries and internet gambling; and interception and monitoring.

Her expertise extends to related areas of law, including constitutional, competition, administrative and intellectual property law, as well as data protection, consumer protection and document retention laws.

In addition, she has a strong understanding of the media and communications legal frameworks of other jurisdictions in Africa, the European Union, North America and Australia.

Wendy acts for a wide range of clients within this sector, including commercial broadcasting services on a variety of platforms (including terrestrial, satellite and mobile), and providers of electronic communications services and networks. Her practice extends to other jurisdictions in Africa, where she provides extensive media and communications regulatory advice.

She has authored numerous articles on various aspects of media and communications law, including the chapter on internet and e-commerce patents in Cyberlaw@SA. She also lectured the Masters degree and certificate course on information technology law at the University of the Witwatersrand from 2003 to 2005.

Wendy has a BCom LLB and an LLM in commercial and communications law, both awarded cum laude, from the University of the Witwatersrand. She has also completed certificate courses in intellectual property and legal writing.
