Biography: Trade & Customs

Gustav Brink is the managing partner of Trade Remedies Unlimited, a consultancy specialising in international trade law with emphasis on trade remedies. He has 20 years of international trade law experience and has extensive international experience, including assisting the governments of Bangladesh, Botswana, Jamaica, South Africa and Syria on various WTO issues. He is an associate of the Trade Law Centre of Southern Africa, an extraordinary lecturer in international business law at the University of Pretoria and an advocate of the High Court. He was previously the director trade remedies policy at the International Trade Administration Commission and was also a partner at International Trade Services, another consultancy specialising in international trade matters.

Gustav published the only book on the South African trade remedies system, did his LLD as a comparative analysis of WTO, EU, US and South African anti-dumping systems and has published chapters on remedies and dispute resolution in various books. He has also published over 30 articles, trade briefs and working documents on international trade law both in South Africa and internationally. He has been involved in over 150 trade remedy cases in various jurisdictions, on behalf of importers, exporters, domestic industry and as investigating officer.
