As a partner in the Mexico City office, Santiago Corcuera regularly takes part in various private equity investments, assisting investors in transactions regarding Mexican target companies. He has extensive experience in M&A and joint ventures between Mexican and foreign investors.
Mr Corcuera has also acted as the secretary of Mexican financial institutions and other publicly traded companies, overseeing regulatory and corporate governance compliance.
He serves as an arbitrator in arbitrations conducted under the Arbitration Rules of the Centro de Arbitraje de México (CAM) and under the auspices of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. He is also experienced in international litigation. He represented Jorge Castañeda before the Inter-American Human Rights Court.
Mr Corcuera served as Chairman of the UN Human Rights Council's Coordinating Committee of the Special Procedures in addition to the Council's Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances.
Mr Corcuera was Dean of the Law School of Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, from 1996-1997, where he also coordinated a masters-level programme and teaches courses in corporate law and human rights law.
He earned his LLM from University of Cambridge and Degree of Law from Universidad Iberoamericana.
