Professor Sacerdoti is at ease with civil and common law proceedings and substantive law, being JD (Milan) and LLM (Columbia Law School).
He is on the ICSID official arbitrators list and has been appointed as member and chair of ICSID tribunals in a number of sensitive investment arbitrations under the BITs of the USA, UK, France and Spain.
Giorgio Sacerdoti brings to arbitration, specifically investment arbitration, his unique experience as international adjudicator, having served from 2001 to 2009 as the "European" judge at the seven-member Appellate Body of the WTO (Chairman 2006-7) where he participated in deciding almost 50 interstate trade disputes. Previously, as vice-president of the OECD Working Group on Bribery in International Business Transactions, he was one of the drafters of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention of 1997. At Bocconi University, Milan, Prof Sacerdoti teaches European and public international law, international trade, investment and contract law, authoring many publications.
A foremost linguist, besides his native Italian and French, he is fluent in English and German and also conducts arbitration in Spanish.
