Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Martine is partner with Luxembourg business law firm, OPF Partners and heads the firm's restructuring & insolvency practice.

Martine has expertise across a number of key areas particularly with regards to exits including voluntary liquidations and 'destructuring' as well as matters relating to European insolvency law. She regularly applies 1346-2000 EU regulation on cross border insolvency cases. Martine has been involved in major cross-border reorganisations for international groups and has also been defending some Madoff investors.

Working closely alongside other teams within the firm, particularly the banking & finance practice, Martine assists with distressed debt situations as well as groups facing financial difficulties generally. She is also involved with corporate law, mergers and acquisitions and structuring of transactions for private equity funds.

Martine contributes regularly to various international legal and insolvency publications such as The Restructuring Review (updated on a yearly basis). She is also a regular speaker and panellist at many domestic and international events such as the INSOL Europe Academic Forum in Leiden in 2010 where she presented the subject 'Supervision and early Intervention by Supervisors'. In May 2011, Martine was a speaker at the 17th Global Insolvency and Restructuring Conference organised by the IBA Insolvency, Restructuring & Creditors' Rights Section (SIRC). She presented the subject 'Insolvency of EU financial institutions - Comparative law and Luxembourg focus'.

Martine has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 2004 and is also a member of representative bodies including IBA, UIA and the ILA (Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs). Furthermore, Martine is council member of INSOL Europe. She graduated from the University of Nancy (France) and speaks English, French, German and Luxembourgish.

Prior to OPF Partners, Martine worked with Deloitte & Touche in both their London and Luxembourg practices where she was partner within the legal department. Here, she assisted with the legal side of the accounting department as well as building up the legal division generally. In this role, Martine was responsible for liquidations of various regulated entities including banks, insurance companies, wealth management and trading companies and other professionals of the financial sector under CSSF supervision.

Martine is based in the Luxembourg office of OPF Partners.
