He established Uche Nwokedi & Co in 1991. Since its establishment, the firm has grown in stature and experience to become one of the leading commercial law firms in Nigeria with a strong and active participation in energy and natural resources law and practice. It has been involved in all aspects of oil concession acquisition and disposition in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, negotiations and establishment of joint ventures and participating arrangements, arbitration (both international and local). The firm has been in the forefront of the development of oil and gas law in Nigeria from the inception of the Indigenous Exploration Programme to date. It is that experience and exposure that has resulted in the Nigerian Oil and Gas Cases, a compendium of over 100 oil and gas cases from 1961 to the present day.
Uche Nwokedi SAN has served with distinction on a number of national assignments within the last 20 years and he presently runs a youth development workshop called the Playhouse Initiative, which mentors young people through music and drama.
Mr Nwokedi SAN is a member of the executive council of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria; the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN), and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK & Nigeria). He has presented papers on various issues relating to oil and gas law, and contributes to international and local journals, as well as to the continuing legal education programme of the Nigerian Bar Association.
