Emmanuel was called to the Nigerian Bar in November 1988 and holds an LLM and an MBA. A member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators London and is an alumnus of the Institute of Maritime Law University of Southampton.
A member of the Nigerian Maritime Law Association, Emmanuel was a delegate to the Comite Maritime International conferences in Antwerp, Singapore, Vancouver, Bordeaux and Athens.
He advises on all aspects of Nigerian maritime law and commercial litigation and represents such liner companies as MSC Geneva, Ignazzio Messina & Co, Nordana Lines and Pacific International Lines and several trampers as well as owners and operators of several oil rigs operating in Nigeria. On the chartering trading side of the shipping world, he has represented such major players as Vitol SA, Addax SA, and Mercuria Trading NV.
His speaking engagements include the presentation of seminar papers at conferences organised by the Nigerian Maritime Law Association; the Piraeus Bar Association, Greece; and Geneva Insight, Switzerland. Emmanuel is currently one of the authors of The European Lawyer Reference Series for shipping, and International Trade Law-Jurisdictional Comparisons.
