Biography: Oil and Gas

Dr Bayo Adaralegbe is partner and head of energy group, Babalakin & Co. He has an LLM (with distinction) in Petroleum Law & Policy and a PhD in International Investment Law from the CEPMLP, Dundee University, and an LLB from the University of Ife. He is a Fellow of the Energy Institute, and holds memberships of the Nigerian Bar Association, AIPN and IBA. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK). His diverse academic and professional qualifications and trainings allow him to be involved in the whole of the Nigerian oil and gas chain- regulation and policy; corporate transactions, as well as dispute settlement. He has advised the House of Representatives on legal and policy aspects of the Petroleum Industry Bill. He has advised the NNPC, IOCs and independents on various aspects of investments, acquisitions, divestments, and operations in the Nigerian upstream sector, including LNG projects, as well as being involved in major oil and gas litigation and arbitration disputes in Nigeria.

Dr Adaralegbe is on the editorial teams of the Journal of World Energy Law and Business, OGEL and TDM. He writes a regular energy column in Thisday newspaper, which is popular. Dr Adaralegbe is part of the advisory council of the Lagos Oil Club and is vice chairman, Energy Institute, UK, (Nigeria branch). Dr Adaralegbe speaks regularly at conferences and workshops and is part of the faculty of the CWC School of Energy that trains Nigerian oil and gas professionals on Nigeria's oil and gas legal system. He has published articles in the JWELB, JENRL, IELRJ, JWIT, JOIA and Arbitration International, among others.
