His practice includes active participation in the drafting and review of environmental laws and standards, lobbying on behalf of the private sector and counselling to federal agencies to develop related instruments and public policies.
Mr Llamas graduated from the Universidad Anáhuac Mexico Norte Law Faculty, studied postgraduate degrees in Mexico and abroad, including a Doctorate in Corporate Law from the Universidad Anáhuac Mexico Norte and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain) and will receive his PhD from both institutions shortly. He is currently chairman of the civil association Consejo para la Responsabilidad y Valoración Ambiental, AC, and managing partner of Environment Law Mexico, SC (EnvironLaw).
Mauricio Llamas has been the head professor of environmental law since 2002 at graduate and postgraduate levels. He is an expositor at specialised forums, as well as an active participant in the most important public and private Mexican environmental committees, holding the position, since 2006, of chairman of the national environment commission of the National Chamber of the Electronic, Telecomm and IT Industry (CANIETI) and since 2011, sub-coordinator of the environmental committee of the National Business Lawyers Association (ANADE).
