Biography: Arbitration

Eleonora Coelho has a Masters in Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Methods of Dispute Resolution – ADR from Université Paris II - Panthéon Assas and has a Law degree from the University of São Paulo Law School. Eleonora is a partner in the São Paulo office of Castro, Barros, Sobral, Gomes - Advogados, practising in the fields of civil law, commercial law, litigation and arbitration.

She is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association and of the International Bar Association and is vice president of the Brazilian arbitration committee (CBAr); professor of the arbitration course at GVLaw; coordinator and professor of the Professional Practice in Law in Mediation and Arbitration of IICS – Instituto Internacional de Ciências Sociais (International Institute of Social Sciencies); member of the permanent staff of arbitrators of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation Chamber of Arbitration and Conciliation; member of the arbitrators list for the Mediation and Arbitration Chamber of the European Chambers (CAE); member of the board of directors of the National Council for Mediation and Arbitration Institutions – CONIMA; member of the arbitrators list for the Mediation and Arbitration Chamber of the Enginneering Institute (CMA-IE); member of the arbitrators list of Câmara de Mediação e Arbitragem of Federação das Indústrias de São Paulo – FIESP; member of the arbitration judiciary committee of CESA - Center for Law Study; member of the Instituto de Advogados de São Paulo – IASP; member of the young arbitrators commission of the Arbitration Center of the Brasil-Canada Chamber of Commerce; member of the Latin American committee for the International Chamber of Commerce; member of the Instituto de Estudos Culturaliistas Miguel Reale – IEC; member of the IBA Latin American regional forum; member of the advisory board of ICDR (International Centre for Dispute Resolution) for Latin America; member of Latin American Committee for the International Chamber of Commerce – ICC; member of the Superior Council of the Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration Chamber of Sao Paulo – CIESP/FIESP; member of the list of arbitrators for CAMARB – Câmara de Arbitragem Empresarial – Brasil; member of the Latin American Regional Forum – LARF – IBA and was elected as 'Up-and-Coming Individual' by Chambers & Partners, Chambers Latin America 2009 and 2010 and as 'notable practioner and leading individual' in 2011. She was recommended as an outstanding professional for arbitration by Who's who Legal in 2009 and 2010.

Eleonora is fluent in English and French, and has elementary Italian and Spanish. She regularly participates in seminars on arbitration in Brazil and abroad, either as fellow or as a speaker.
