Biography: Capital Markets

James O'Connor is a partner in Sidley's New York office. His practice is concentrated in securities law and capital markets transactions. He regularly represents both issuers and underwriters in a wide variety of industries, including financial companies, real estate investment trusts, energy companies and industrials. His experience includes a full range of public and private offerings, including IPOs and equity and debt capital markets transactions, retail and institutional medium-term note programmes and international offerings. In addition to securities transactions, his practice includes advice to clients regarding corporate governance matters, disclosure matters and public company reporting obligations.

Mr O'Connor has worked on transactions with a number of companies, including Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation, Daimler AG, Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated, Aon Corporation, Camden Property Trust, Vectren Corporation, Simon Property Trust, Getty Realty Corp and Broadpoint Gleacher Securities Group. He has advised issuers and underwriters in a number of IPO transactions, including SL Green Realty Corp, Beacon Properties Corporation, Newcastle Investment Corp, Arbor Realty Trust Inc, Morton's Restaurant Group Inc, Pebblebrook Hotel Trust and Walker & Dunlop Inc.

Mr O'Connor recently presented on legal matters with respect to REIT IPOs at the New York Stock Exchange in a conference sponsored by the NYSE, KPMG, and Sidley.
