Biography: Capital Markets

Gerard A Hekker is a counsel in Sidley's international corporate finance practice in Asia and is based in the firm's Singapore office. His practice is focused on corporate finance, liability management, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and complex restructuring transactions. He represents issuers and underwriters on equity issuances, as well as high yield and convertible debt issuances (including equity-linked structures) and liability management exercises including exchange offers, tender offers and consent solicitations. He represents both financial and strategic sellers and buyers (including private equity funds) on public and private international M&A and investment transactions. He also represents companies involved in complex corporate restructurings including financings, re-financings and asset-based securitisations. His clients include private companies, financial institutions, governments and government-linked companies throughout the Asia-Pacific region including Indonesia, China, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines and the United States. His experience includes a broad range of sectors including telecommunications, petroleum and petrochemical refining, financial institutions, mining, forest products, power generation, transportation and infrastructure, technology, and oil and gas production.

Mr Hekker has extensive experience on corporate finance and M&A for tower leasing companies and telecommunication operators (sale and leaseback) in the telecommunication towers leasing industry.

Mr Hekker is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese and conversant in Bahasa Indonesia.

Mr Hekker received his JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1992 and his BA from Dartmouth College in 1986. He is admitted in California, is an English solicitor and is a registered foreign lawyer in Singapore.
