Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

David has 20 years of experience in the insolvency area. He has extensive experience in insolvency matters, having appeared regularly before Alberta's Bankruptcy Court and Court of Appeal, as well as having made submissions to the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. David has acted for lenders, debtors, receivers and trustees, creditors and counterparties, DIP financiers, and acquisitors in a variety of insolvency proceedings, including Principal Group, Solvex, Smoky River Coal, Air Canada, Crafts Canada, Blue Range Resources, Gauntlet Energy, Enron, Wilson Auto Electric, Maple Leaf Distillers/Protos and SemGroup. David has also had extensive involvement with financial and derivative contracts in such insolvency proceedings as NESI, Enron, Blue Range Resources, Air Canada, and Androscoggin.

He has written numerous articles spotlighting issues relating to insolvency and restructuring. In addition to David's recognition by Who's Who Legal, he is also recommended by Chambers Global: The Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers for Business 2011 as a leading lawyer in the area of restructuring and insolvency law, The Best Lawyers in Canada 2011 as a leading practitioner in insolvency and financial restructuring law, The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory 2010 as one of Canada's best lawyers in the areas of insolvency and financial restructuring and insolvency litigation. David is a member of Canadian Bar Association, Calgary Bar Association, the Insolvency Institute of Canada, and is the co-chair of FMC's Insolvency and Restructuring group. He was called to the Bar in 1990 (Alberta) and studied at the University of Alberta, LLB (Deans List), 1989.
