Most recently, Shayne acted as Canadian Counsel to Nortel for the official committee of unsecured creditors of Nortel Networks Inc in the cross-border CCAA and Chapter 11 proceedings. Shayne has also acted as representative counsel for investors in Portus' receivership and bankruptcy proceedings, counsel to monitor in Roman Corporation's CCAA proceedings, debtor's counsel for CCAA restructurings (Trident, Bombay Furniture Company, Vicwest, Hunjan) and secured lender's counsel in GT Telecom's insolvency proceedings.
He has written numerous articles for insolvency publications and has lectured on receivership, restructuring and bankruptcy issues. In addition to Shayne's recognition by Who's Who Legal, he is also recommended by Chambers Global: The Guide to the World's Leading Lawyers for Business 2009, 2010 and 2011 as a leading lawyer in the area of restructuring/insolvency and by The Guide to the World's Leading Insolvency and Restructuring Lawyers, one of Euromoney's Expert Guides, published by Legal Media Group. Shayne is a member of Ontario Bar Association - insolvency section, Insol International, and Turnaround Management Association (TMA). He was called to the Bar in 1990 (Ontario); Attended the University of Western Ontario, LLB, 1988; and Harvard University, BA (Economics), 1984.
