He joined Ernst & Young as a tax adviser in 1984 and got his degree as a certified tax expert in 1988. After 17 years as head of the tax department in Basel and a member of the tax steering group of Ernst & Young Hubertus Ludwig left Ernst & Young in 2000 to build up the tax group at Vischer one of the leading law firms in Switzerland. The Vischer tax practice has become one of the biggest tax groups within a traditional law firm in Switzerland.
In 2010 Hubertus Ludwig decided to leave Vischer with the majority of the tax group to build up a new tax and legal entity, Ludwig + Partner Ltd, Attorneys, in Basel.
The practice of Hubertus Ludwig concentrates in the areas of national and international corporate taxation, especially in cross border investments between Switzerland and Germany.
Since 2004 Hubertus Ludwig has acted as secretary and since June 2011 as president of the IFA Switzerland branch. From 2006 until 2010 he has been the president of the STEP branch Basel. He is also an acting board member in various companies.
His publications include contributions to cross border investments, to biotech companies and he also writes the commentaries on various law provisions.
