Biography: Arbitration

Bruno Leurent is a member of the Paris Bar.

He has over 25 years of experience in international arbitration where he acts as counsel and as arbitrator. His experience covers a wide variety of disputes involving private companies as well as sovereign states, and commercial as well as investment disputes. Arbitrations in which he was involved in recent years related to matters such as financing of public works, loans, agreements for exploitation of natural resources or development of national industries, taxation of windfall profits, TV coverage of territories, construction of petrochemical plants, joint ventures in the automotive industry, contracts for manufacturing and supply of military equipment, offshore oil equipment construction, and management contracts in the hotel industry.

Bruno Leurent chaired a panel of commissioners at the United Nations Compensation Commission, which was in charge of assessing Iraq's liabilities as a result of its invasion of Kuwait.

He regularly writes and speaks on international arbitration and litigation. His publications cover topics such as enforcement and setting aside of arbitral awards, lis pendens between arbitration and court proceedings, bank guarantees and commercial arbitration, effects of political upheavals upon international arbitration and the admissibility of claims brought by dual nationals before international tribunals.

Bruno studied law at the University of Paris (DES droit public, 1967; DES droit privé, 1968). He also graduated from the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, 1968.

Bruno speaks French and English and practices arbitration in these two languages.
