Biography: Corporate Immigration

Becky Xia is the country leader for the offices in China for the world's leading immigration law firm, Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen and Loewy. She supervises a team handling inbound visas and work permits. As the leading expert in the increasingly complex area of China immigration, she specialises in assisting multinational corporations, financial institutions, and other global employers with employment-based immigration and investor visas. Becky also advises clients on immigration-related compliance as well as strategies for the transfer of expatriate workforce into China and throughout the country.

She has assisted multinational companies in software, retail and manufacturing industries to obtain work permits and residence permits for more than 10,000 employees in all provinces of China; advised major global computer company on post-integration immigration requirements following major acquisition; assisted prominent artists and former diplomats to obtain visas and work permits; assisted multinational companies in obtaining work authorisation for employees from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and overseas Chinese with US green cards. He has developed strategy for major retail company's expat employees to obtain authorization to work at multiple branches simultaneously; assisted financial company to handle deportation and successful resumption of work authorization for expatriate banker; assisted overseas Fragomen offices to help Chinese nationals obtain overseas visas; on a pro-bono basis, assisted volunteer retired American English teachers in obtaining work authorization to teach English to minority students in Yunnan province.

She is a member of the legal committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai; a member of the human resources committee of the European Chamber of Commerce in China; and a member of the human resources committee of the British Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.

Becky has spoken on China immigration-related topics at conferences in Hong Kong and Shanghai organised by the Employee Relocation Council. Becky has also been the featured speaker in seminars in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, Nanjing, and Shenyang sponsored by the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, European Chamber of Commerce in China, British Chamber of Commerce in China, and the US Consulate Shenyang.

She was educated at China Southern Yangtze University School of Law, 2002. She speaks Chinese, Shanghainese and English.
