Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring

Justin R Fogarty is of counsel to Heenan Blaikie LLP. He has acted for major companies, court-appointed monitors, receivers and creditors in some of the most significant restructuring and insolvency matters involving major airline, automotive sector, technology, energy, agriculture, retail, real estate and manufacturing corporations nationwide. His client's appreciate his creative and innovative approaches to complex legal and business problems. He is well known for developing business solutions. He has appeared before all levels of courts in restructuring and commercial litigation matters, and has gained significant cross-border experience working with US and European companies and counsel. He writes extensively in his areas of expertise and is a frequent lecturer.

Justin is the co-chair of the International Bar Associations (IBA) insolvency, restructuring and creditors' rights section, the past co-chair of the Canadian Bar Association's (CBA) bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring section, and the past chair of the Advocates' Society. He is the editor of the National Insolvency Review and has spoken or delivered papers, or both, at numerous conferences hosted by organisations such as the IBA, the CBA, the Conference Board of Canada, the Canadian Institute and the National Association of Credit Management. Justin has been recognised in Who's Who Legal, Martindale Hubbell, Chambers Global and Lexpert.

Apart from Justin's legal expertise, he is an active board member in many national sports organisations and charities. Justin is an honorary lieutenant colonel of the 763 Signals Regiment and a member of the board of Canadian Defence Association Institute and a knight commander of the International Knightly Order of Saint George.
