He regularly acts as counsel in major fraud and environmental crime cases and in criminal cases involving accidents in inter alia heavy industry and civil engineering in the Netherlands. His strategic and management capacities in these types of cases are outstanding. Outside the Netherlands he often participates in international defence teams concerning cases with connections to the Netherlands through MLATs. He also handles cases on Spanish soil involving Dutch parties. He is in close contact with a number of Spanish associates. Finally, he defends policemen and judges who are confronted with criminal investigations or proceedings.
In his advisory practice, he maps out criminal risks for the corporate world and designs internal corporate protocols in order to prevent criminal liability.
He is a member of the Dutch Association of Defence Counsel, the International Bar Association and the European Criminal Bar Association. He teaches Criminal Procedure in the vocational training for advocates.
Mr Van Eijck was born and bred in Rotterdam. He studied at Leiden University and speaks fluent Spanish and English.
