Biography: Capital Markets

Mr Truesdell is co-head of Davis Polk's global capital markets group. Named one of the country's 3 'Most Influential Lawyers' in finance and capital markets by The National Law Journal, he has been credited with helping 'hoist the economy back to its feet'.

Mr Truesdell represents clients in US and international capital markets transactions and advises on corporate governance and securities market regulation. He has represented investment banks, including Banc of America/Merrill Lynch, Barclays Capital, Citi, Credit Suisse, JP Morgan and Morgan Stanley, as well as a variety of corporate clients. He has extensive experience with a wide variety of both public and private debt and equity offerings by US and non-US issuers, including initial public offerings, convertible offerings and high-yield debt financings.

Mr Truesdell completed more US initial public offerings in 2010 than any other lawyer, including Alimera Sciences, Envestnet, Ironwood Pharmaceuticals, Qlik Technologies and Scorpio Tankers; he completed more US initial public offerings in 2009 than any other lawyer, including Cobalt International Energy, DigitalGlobe, Mead Johnson and Select Medical; he completed the largest convertible offering in history ($6.9 billion offering of perpetual convertible stock by Bank of America Corporation); and he completed the largest high-yield offering in history ($6 billion offering of high-yield notes by Freeport-McMoRan Copper and Gold).

Mr Truesdell received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1983 and his JD from Columbia Law School in 1986. He became a partner in 1993 and is admitted to the State of New York.
