Biography: Banking

Craig is a director of our corporate and commercial practice. In addition to assisting on numerous joint venture, merger and acquisition transactions, he has advised various banks and corporations in relation to a wide-range of financing structures, the effects of various financing and securities legislation (in particular the Banks Act, the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act and the Collective Investment Schemes Control Act), insurance (both long-term and short-term insurance) as well as structured securities. He is a member of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces.

Craig began his career as a candidate attorney at Cliffe Dekker Fuller Moore (now Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr) in 2000. He was appointed as an associate in 2002, promoted to senior associate in 2004 and became a director in 2006.

Craig received his BSc, LLB at the University of the Witwatersrand and was admitted as an attorney in 2002.

The International Who's Who of Banking Lawyers 2011 and The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers 2011 selected Craig as being among the world's leading banking lawyers. Chambers Global 2010 and 2011 ranked Craig Band 3 in banking and finance. In 2008 and 2009, Craig was ranked as up and coming. In IFLR1000 2010 and 2011, Craig received high praise for banking and project finance work, and 2008 and 2009 he was recommended in banking and project finance.
