Biography: Banking
Vicente Lines has been a partner at Arias & Muñoz since 2001. He has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating, drafting, and closing complex financial deals. He has expertise in international financial transactions and project finance for infrastructure projects. He has structured numerous public-private partnerships with private actors and local public entities, and has closed several multi-million dollar deals in the telecom, energy, agribusiness, financial, and transportation industries in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Honduras. Notable transactions include: structuring Bank of China's first incursion in Costa Rica, a US$250 million purchase of receivables in which the Costa Rican Institute of Electricity (ICE) leased cutting-edge 3G telecommunications technology from Huawei; creating dozens of credit facilities on behalf of major multilateral, international development, and international commercial banks in Costa Rica; advising on the project finance of Costa Rica's first cooperative-sponsored wind power generation project by the International Bank of Costa Rica (BICSA); advising on the acquisition of a multi-million dollar thermal generation facility in Choloma, Honduras; and advising on the financing of a syndicated facility for Central America's largest citrus concentrate producer, among many others, in the last 15 years.
Mr Lines holds a law degree from Georgetown University (LLM in Common Law Studies, Georgetown University Law Center, 1999, Fulbright scholar), and the Universidad de Costa Rica (JD equivalent, University of Costa Rica Law School, 1997), and has been admitted to the Costa Rica Bar and New York Bar.
