In addition, Roberto has significant experience representing companies and industrial sectors in trade negotiations on matters before the WTO with respect to the Bilateral and Regional Agreements. In 2007, he served as an advisor to the Brazilian Mission for the UN and the WTO in Geneva in the negotiations regarding the Non-Agricultural Market Access (NAMA), TBT, SPS and Rules (dumping, subsidies and fishery subsidies). Based on this experience, Roberto has successfully advised companies on how to structure their operations and minimise the risk of conflicts through alternative dispute resolution measures.
Academically, Roberto studied at Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC, and attended the Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL). Roberto also served as the editor of The Role of the Chairman of the WTO Negotiations, a book co-authored with current and past WTO chairmen and key negotiators, published in 2010 by Cameron May, and author of the chapter on Mutual Agreement Solutions on WTO Disputes, Editora Saraiva, 2008.
Mr Kanitz's involvement in international issues also extends to his charitable work. He is one of the founders of Bâ-a-Bá do Cidadão, a charitable group that teaches low-income citizens about their duties and rights.
