Bogdan represents multinationals and government authorities on a broad spectrum of trade, WTO and competition law and policy matters in the EU and around the world. He has particular knowledge and experience in the interface between competition and trade laws. His contribution was key to achieving unprecedented non-application of anti-dumping measures due to the effects of a cartel. Bogdan has also invoked trade arguments in competition and merger control cases, as well as competition law arguments in the context of trade defence investigations and related litigation. Bogdan has substantial experience in high-profile trade disputes and regularly represents applicants in trade cases before the European courts in Luxembourg. In particular, Bogdan has achieved an interpretative judgment, which has prevented a major overturn of case law on access to justice in trade cases, and is currently handling over seven pending litigation cases.
Bogdan was admitted to the Sofia Bar in 1999 and obtained an LLM in EU law from the College of Europe in 2001. Bogdan has authored a chapter on specificity of subsidies in the respected Max Planck Institute's Commentaries on World Trade Law.
Bogdan speaks fluent English, Russian and French in addition to his native Bulgarian. He is member of the EU trade subcommittee of the International Law Association, and founding member of the Bulgarian Association for European Law.
