Biography: Project Finance

Maksym Kopeychykov is a partner at Ilyashev & Partners, heading the banking and finance practice. He specialises in banking and finance, capital markets, M&A, foreign investments, privatisation, real estate, land law, construction and public procurements.

Having graduated from the Faculty of Jurisprudence of Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University in 1999, he worked as a paralegal at Europeysky concern from 1996 to 1997; as an assistant to the head of the Parliamentary Committee at Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine from 1997 to 1998; as a legal advisor at Ukrainian Construction Business from 1998 to 2001; an associate at Ilyashev & Partners from 2001 to 2006; and a partner at Ilyashev & Partners since 2006.

He has been recognised as one of the best lawyers in Ukraine by international directories, The European Legal 500, PLC Which Lawyer? and Who's Who Legal: CIS 2010.

His recent work includes representation of Antonov Design Bureau in a US$ 6 million dispute with the State Innovation Company regarding collection of finance provided to Antonov, representation of BTA Bank (Kazakhstan) in collection of the secured loans on the territory of Ukraine for the total amount of more than US$150 million, purchase of the shares of small Ukrainian bank for the total amount of US$6 million, restructuring of the Eurobonds for the total amount of US$175 million for one of the major Ukrainian banks. .

He has written over 30 articles for leading publications.
