Biography: Mining

Cyndi Laval is a partner in Gowlings Lafleur Henderson LLP's Vancouver office practising in the areas of securities, business and mining law.

Cyndi advises mineral exploration and mining companies (private and public) in connection with a broad range of transactions including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, stock exchange listings, corporate, securities, NI 43-101 regulatory compliance, corporate governance, corporate reorganisations, property acquisitions and joint ventures.

Cyndi was the head of the Gowlings' Vancouver business law department and a member of the Vancouver management committee from 2007 to 2011. She is currently on the executive of Gowlings' energy, infrastructure and mining industry group. Cyndi is also a member of Gowlings' corporate finance, securities and M&A national practice group.

Cyndi received a LLB and BA from the University of British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1993. Cyndi also completed the Canadian Securities Course (Honours) and has written the conduct and practices exam for securities professionals, overseen by the Canadian Securities Institute. Prior to joining private practice, Cyndi worked in the policy department of the now TSX Venture Exchange.

Cyndi was named one of Vancouver's 30 leading lawyers by the National Post. She has been a lecturer for TSX Exchange events and the Women's Executive Network as well as other conferences and seminars. She was an instructor of the TSX Venture Exchange Rules and Tools Corporate Governance Workshops from 2004 to 2010. Cyndi is also an adviser on the TSX Venture Exchange's local advisory committee and a member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, National Centre for Business Law, the Institute of Corporate Directors, Association of Women in Finance and the securities law subsection of the British Columbia branch of the Canadian Bar Association.
