Biography: Business Crime Defence

Mark Tuohey is a partner at the Washington, DC, office of Brown Rudnick LLP. He represents clients throughout the United States and internationally in complex civil and white-collar criminal investigations and trials, legislative investigations and corporate compliance matters. These matters regularly involve investigations by the United States Department of Justice, the SEC and other federal and state regulatory agencies, and international regulatory agencies. A formal federal prosecutor, Mr Tuohey has on occasion served as special prosecutor for government investigations in the areas of public corruption, policies and anti-terrorism.

Mr Tuohey, a member of the District of Columbia Bar and New York Bar, served as president of the District of Columbia Bar, and is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Currently, he is a chair of the ABA's standing committee on government affairs. From 2004-2007, as chair of the DC Sports and Entertainment Commission, Mark brought Major League Baseball back to Washington. He was named Washingtonian of the Year in 2005.

Mr Tuohey has been selected annually to Chambers USA: America's Leading Lawyers for Business; Best Lawyers in America (bet-the-company litigation and white-collar criminal defence); The International Who's Who of Business Crime Defence Lawyers; Top 100 Irish American Lawyers in America; and the Top 100 Most Influential Lawyers in Washington, DC.

Mr Tuohey is a frequent lecturer in the areas of trial practice, anti-corruption issues and internal corporation investigations.
