Fazil has been consistently identified as a leading practitioner in his field. He has acted for number of private equity houses, fund managers, high net worth and institutional investors such as Reliance, the VAM Funds, UTI, Lundin for Africa, the International Finance Corporation and the Global Environment Fund. He has also advised local and international banks on various types of financing transactions. Fazil read law in the UK at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and was called to the Bar of England and Wales. He holds a postgraduate diploma in banking and finance law. Prior to joining BLC, Fazil was legal counsel for the Mauritius Financial Services Commission (FSC), and in that capacity he was heavily involved in the drafting and implementation of the current regulatory regime for Mauritius funds, securities regulation and financial services. He regularly consults with industry groups and regulators on legal developments and other topics, and contributes to various publications on his area of practice.
