With a postgraduate degree in North American law from Wisconsin University, Mrs Basilio taught the postgraduate civil law course at the Escola Superior de Advocacia from 1993 to 2001. She is a professor on the postgraduate arbitration course at Fundação Getúlio Vargas and the author of Arbitration Law of Brazil: Practice and Procedure, published in 2006 by Juris Publishing, Inc. Currently, she is a member of the TRE Tribunal Regional Eleitoral (Electoral Court).
From 2004 to 2006, she was the president of the mediation and arbitration chamber of the Brazilian Bar Association, Rio de Janeiro section, in which she also acted as both president of the lawyer's association committee and vice president of the arbitration committee from October 2003 to December 2006. In addition she was elected as chief councillor of the Brazilian Bar Association for two separate three-year periods: 2000 to 03 and 2003 to 06. She is also a member of the editorial committee of Revista de Arbitragem e Mediação (The Arbitration and Mediation Review), the Escola da Magistratura corporate law committee, and the Rio de Janeiro state High Court. She is a frequent speaker at conferences and seminars on commercial law and arbitration.
Mrs Basilio has acted as counsel and arbitrator in several arbitration cases under the rules of ICC, London Court of International Arbitration and some Brazilian institutions.
She is fluent in English and Portuguese.
