Ilias Anagnostopoulos received his education at the School of Law, University of Athens (1978), and the University of Frankfurt am Main, Germany (Dr juris, 1983). He is an associate professor in criminal law and criminal procedure at the University of Athens School of Law, and has published extensively in Greek, English and German on matters of Hellenic, European and international criminal law, business crimes, securities fraud, reform of criminal procedure and human rights.
Some of his publications are Criminal Law in Greece (with K Magliveras, Kluwer Law International, The Hague 2000, new edition to appear in 2013); Internationalisierung des Strafrechts (ed) (Nomos, Baden Baden 2003); and Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters in the European Union, IELR 2002.
Memberships include the criminal law committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (chairman), the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association (secretary general), the criminal law experts committee of the Hellenic Ministry of Justice, ICC-FraudNet, the European Criminal Bar Association and the International Association of Penal Law.
