Biography: Commercial Litigation

Sara Brody is a partner in Sidley's San Francisco office and global co-chair of the firm's securities litigation practice group. She has extensive experience in complex commercial litigation and in particular in defending shareholder class actions and derivative actions in state and federal courts throughout the United States. Ms Brody won one of the Top Ten Defense Verdicts of 2002, as selected by The National Law Journal. She is listed as one of the leading California litigators in the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011 editions of Chambers & Partners' America's Leading Business Lawyers, and by the Daily Journal as one of the Top Thirty Securities Litigators in California. She regularly represents companies and individuals in matters involving the Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory organisations. She has written articles and lectures on a wide range of securities litigation topics in legal and business forums across the country. Ms Brody also has extensive experience in conducting internal investigations and counselling clients on disclosure issues.

Ms Brody is a member of the State Bar of California, the American Bar Association and San Francisco Bar Association where she was past president of the securities litigation section.

Ms Brody received her JD (managing editor, Emory Law Journal) from Emory University School of Law in 1987 and her BA from University of California, Berkeley, in 1982. She is admitted in California and the District of Columbia.
