He has acted for various large corporates, local and international investment banks and mining houses. His involvement in mergers and acquisitions and stock exchange and associated regulatory matters is extensive. Much publicised matters in which he has been involved include the attempted take-over by Nedbank of Standard Bank and the warding off by Gold Fields of an attempted hostile takeover by Harmony. He has acted for Platinum Australia in relation to their establishment and operations in South Africa and advises listed companies, such as, Hudaco and City Lodge Hotels in regard to their major and corporate finance transactions. He has also dealt with various other mining and mineral related matters, and has had extensive interactions with the Department of Minerals and Resources.
Pat leads the firm's mining department. Some of Pat's other areas of focus in the firm include property law and he is a qualified conveyancer. He is admitted to practice law in Lesotho, in addition to South Africa. Pat is recognised as a leading lawyer in corporate and M&A by The PLC Which Lawyer Yearbook as well as by Chambers Global.
