He studied law at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and Hanover. He acquired an MLE in Hanover and LLM at the Boston University. Daniel Schafer was admitted to the Bar in 1999. He further acquired a diploma as a certified tax expert in 2004. He joined Lenz & Staehelin in 1999 and became a partner in 2008.
His field of activity is domestic and international taxation, with a special focus on corporate tax (including financing, M&A, restructuring, and relocation of multinationals), Swiss VAT, real estate taxation, and other real estate matters including transaction, structuring and acquisition. He also regularly advises private clients on tax and estate planning, and relocation.
Daniel Schafer is a member of several professional organisations in Switzerland.
He practises in French, German and English.
