From 2002 to 2007, Michel chaired the tax practice in the New York office of CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre.
Michel advises on mergers and acquisitions and cross-border restructuring, corporate finance projects and real estate. He is acting for multinationals, funds, financial institutions and high net worth individuals. He is also active in litigation. He chairs the firm's private equity group.
He is an officer of tax committee of the International Bar Association (IBA), former co-chair of the international tax committee of the International Law, committee of the New York State Bar Association (NYSBA) (2007), former member of the steering committee New York branch of the International Fiscal Association (IFA). He is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) and Tax Review. He chairs the carbon finance working group of Paris EUROPLACE, the taxation subgroup of the working group on Fiducie and is active in the Islamic finance working group.
Michel was the co-reporter for France at the 2010 annual IFA conference on Tax Treaties and Tax avoidance: application of anti-avoidance provisions. Michel regularly writes articles in Tax Note International, Euromoney and French publications (such as Les Echos).
He holds a postgraduate degree in international tax law from the University of Paris XI/HEC. He was a lecturer on international/European taxation and corporate tax at Paris Dauphine University from 1998 to 2000.
He speaks French and English.
