Mr Ghikas has served as arbitrator in numerous international and domestic commercial arbitrations, and has over 35 years' experience as a trial lawyer and arbitration counsel. He has extensive experience in disputes involving the mining, electricity, oil and gas and technology industries. He has often acted as counsel or arbitrator in disputes involving the international licensing and distribution of manufactured goods or intellectual property, and also has experience with antitrust matters. He has broad experience in corporate finance issues, including both debt and equity arrangements.
Mr Ghikas is a former law firm managing partner and chair of the compensation committee, and he has often been appointed as mediator or arbitrator of partnership disputes, including disputes concerning law firm partners.
Gerry Ghikas is a frequent contributor to the literature and education on arbitration topics, and has been an ad hoc professor at the University of British Columbia Law School.
