Mr Schulz was chairman of the IBA committee international franchising (1994 1998), he is a member of the legal committees of the German Franchise Association (DFV) and the European Franchise Federation (EFF) (of which he was chairman for many years) as well as the German member of EuroFranchise Lawyers (EFL), an association of franchise experts in 17 European countries. He was a member of the Study Group Franchising of the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT), which established a Guide to International Master Franchise Agreements (now in its 2nd edition) and which drafted a Franchise Disclosure Model Law. He is, together with Prof Flohr, co-editor of Das Franchise-System (now in its 4th edition) and author or co-author of numerous publications concerning franchise and distribution law in German, English and French. He has lectured before a great number of national and international audiences, in public and private institutions.
Other than German he speaks English and French fluently.
