Biography: Capital Markets

G Matthew Sheridan is a partner, member of Sidley's executive committee and co-head of Sidley's international finance practice in Asia. He works from both the firm's Singapore and Hong Kong offices. He has lived and worked in Asia since 1994. He represents underwriters and issuers, including corporate enterprises, financial institutions, government and governmental entities in connection with corporate financing through global offerings of equity and debt securities, as well as mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructurings. He advises clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam. His experience includes transactions involving a broad range of sectors, including real estate telecommunications, financial institutions, technology, transportation, metals industry, mining, forest products, consumer products, power and oil and gas. Mr Sheridan has been recognised as a leading lawyer by numerous publications, including The International Who's Who of Capital Markets Lawyers, Chambers Global, Chambers Asia, International Financial Law Review's IFLR 1000, Asia Law & Practice's Asialaw Leading Lawyers and PLC Which Lawyer.

Mr Sheridan received his LLB (with honours) from Monash University in 1986 and his BA from Hamilton College in 1981. He is admitted in New York (1993); Victoria, Australia, (1988); is a Hong Kong Registered Foreign Lawyer (New York) 2002 and a Singapore Registered Foreign Lawyer (New York) 2010.
