Biography: Insolvency & Restructuring
Ernesto Silvas Medina heads Sanchez Devanny's banking and finance pratice. He specialises in loans and credit facilities, financial restructuring/creditors rights, financial services regulation, financial services/e-finance, capital markets – debt, mergers and acquisitions, and estate planning.Prior to joining Sanchez Devanny he was local partner at a prestigious international law firm in the Monterrey Office.
He is former chairman of the financial and business law committee and director of the Mexican Institute of Finance Executives (Instituto Mexicano de Ejecutivos de Finanzas, A.C., Chapter Monterrey, Nuevo León).
He attended the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City, (Law Degree, 1994), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (LLM, 1998). He is admitted to practise in Mexico.
He is professor of Comparative Corporate Law and International Contracts in the Master's degree programme (EGADE) at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Monterrey Campus and professor of International Contracts in the Master's degree programme at INIDEM Business Law School (Panama).
He has co-authored the Mexican Chapter of Tolley's International Tax and Investment Service.
He is fluent in Spanish and English.
