Manus acts for a number of leading South African and international mining and energy companies. His experience includes advising on, negotiating and conducting mining-related corporate transactions and black economic empowerment transactions; rendering opinions on mining, oil and gas; offering expertise in administrative and environmental law; undertaking mining-related litigation and arbitrations; and completing due diligence investigations for listings and acquisitions.
From 1988 until 1995, Manus was employed as in-house legal adviser of the Rand Mines Group, providing legal advice on all aspects of the organisation's activities. Prior to this, he was employed as legal adviser at Total South Africa Limited.
Manus has made representations to the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act and other mining related legislation. He often speaks at conferences on various aspects of the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, black economic empowerment and various other matters affecting the South African mining, oil and gas industries.
In addition to being included in The International Who's Who of Mining Lawyers from 2005 to 2012 he has been named as a leading lawyer in energy, natural resources & mining by Chambers Global, Legal Experts EMEA, and Expert Guides.
